If you had only ONE opportunity....one shot (ok, now I feel like Eminem the rapper) to photograph something you feel defines the health status of the US..... What would you photograph!?!?

I would photograph a medical bill with insurance company logos in the background....perhaps it would also have a blurry vingette of the White House.

The waiting area at the Cook County ER. I'm very lucky that I have never need emergency health care without insurance, but I've heard stories from the news and friends of waiting hours upon hours just hoping to be seen by a doctor - not even caring the monetary cost they are going to be billed for the visit afterwards.

The hospital vistors (and PATIENTS) who stand across the street from Barnes Jewish Hospital so they can smoke...sometimes WITH their IVs still in and still wearing their hospital gown. First I think it shows how people are directly damaging their health despite all the information available but also how we're trying to improve, since you have to physically leave the grounds of the hospital to smoke.
